Designing Whiteboard Animation

Step 1: Content Idea

Choose your whiteboard animation’s theme before you start designing. For instance, let’s use the alphabet to produce an educational short for kids that introduces them to fruit.

Step 2: Adding Text and Images

Add a text header first. After choosing the “Text” tab from the left panel of the tool, click “Add a heading“. Type “A,” the first letter of the alphabet, and make sure it is positioned correctly. After that, type a word that starts with that letter, like “Apple.”

We now need to provide a picture or drawing of the Apple on the page. To do this, navigate to the “Elements” tab and look for an apple drawing to upload as a picture.

There are many different graphic possibilities available on Canva. Pick a colored or black-and-white one that suits your style. Adjust the image’s size and placement so that it complements your content.

If you want better outcomes, you should give design enough time. The design will look like this-

Step 3: Duplicating Pages

To continue with the next letter, duplicate the current page by clicking on the Duplicate page icon. Scroll down and select the second page.

Replace the text with the next letter, “B,” and then enter a word that resembles with letter B, such as “Banana.” and then enter a related sketch. Repeat this process to create new pages and design for as many letters as you need.

Step 4: Downloading Your Designs

After you’ve finished all of your designs, select the “Share” button on the upper right corner of the screen.

Now select the Download option, choose the type of the images as PNG files, and then hit the Download button. This will get them ready for the next stage, which is to make the animation.

Creating the Whiteboard Animation

Step 1: Setting Up the Animation

Go to your Canva dashboard and click on the File button from the upper left corner of the menu bar then click on “Create a design” again, but this time, you should select “Video.”

In the new video creation page, go to the “Apps” tab from the left panel and search for “SpeedPaint” (without spaces). Choose the SpeedPaint tool from the list and click on the Open button.

Step 2: Uploading Images and Setting Parameters

First, upload an image by selecting “Choose file.” You must adjust the Frames Per Second (FPS) after uploading. You should set it to 60 frames per second for a smooth animation. Next, set the sketch duration from the drop-down menu as you need and modify the color fill duration.

Set a fill time if your photos have color; otherwise, leave it at zero. Select a white background, and then choose a hand motion by clicking on the given style, if you want a fade-out effect just mark the check box to add it.

Step 3: Animating the Image

Once every parameter has been adjusted, press the “Animate image” button. It will take some time for Canva to process the image and generate an animation.

Following that, the video page now has a video clip. When finished, choose “Set video as background” from the three-dot menu on the video clip to make it full screen.

Step 4: Fine-Tuning the Animation

Change the lengths of the drawing and color fill, then renew the animation till it appears exactly right if the first one is too long or not good enough.

After you are happy with the first animation, click the + icon to start a new page, upload the second image, and then repeat the steps for the second image using the same animation parameters.

Apply this technique to your remaining images. Moreover, to make your film more interesting, you may also start it with more footage provided by the tools.

Step 5: Exporting the Final Video

Once every animation is complete, select the “Share” button from the upper right corner of the menu bar and select the MP4 version of the video to download. It’s now finished and ready for sharingβ€”your whiteboard animation video.

Canva’s user-friendly UI and robust AI capabilities make it simple and accessible to create a whiteboard animation.

Whiteboard animations are a powerful tool for marketing, storytelling, and education that may effectively communicate your idea in an eye-catching and visually appealing way. You can create captivating and educational animations of professional quality with practice and experimentation.
